Official Opening of the Martin Codd Hurling Arena
The Official Opening of the Martin Codd Hurling Arena will take place in the Nicky Rackard Grounds on Friday June 5th at 7.30pm in Rathnure.
The opening is being performed by the President of the GAA, Christy Cooney and Bishop Denis Brennan. There will be a GAA Museum featuring wonder artifacts from such hurling dynasties as the Quigleys, Rackards, Englishs and many more including a wealth of detailed history of Wexford and Rathure all on display. South East Radio will broadcast from 6.30 on Friday evening and mini games will be on display as well as the facilities now available in Rathure including the magnificent fully enclosed hurling arena.
The building is a 44 meter by 25 meter building with a synthetic grass surface designed and laid specifically with hurling in mind. It also comprises meeting rooms, balconey, stand for the main pitch and club shop. It really is a magnificant structure and has to be seen to be believed. It promises to be a fantastic weekend of GAA history and interest from All-Ireland medals to All-Star trophies, match programmes, etc. Wexford Senior Hurlers will also be playing on the Sunday evening 7th June in the Nicky Rackard Park. This will be preceeded by the Ballyhale Shamrocks taking on Rathnure in Senior Club hurling.
Make sure and catch some of the action in this wonderfully unique GAA Weekend.
